In a spirited competition, the Thompson group, led by JILA and NIST Fellow and CU Boulder physics professor James Thompson, emerged victorious in the much-anticipated JILA Cup Badminton Tournament. The competition pitted the Thompson group against the Lehnert group, led by JILA Fellow Adjoint Konrad Lehnert, now at Yale University.
"We are happy...that the event went well and we won the cup!" JILA graduate student Chitose Maruko said.
After several action-packed rounds filled with thrilling volleys and fierce competition, the Thompson group secured the win, ensuring the prized JILA Cup—a custom-made trophy—remains at the institute. The event highlighted the enduring bonds and friendly rivalries within the JILA community while showcasing the determination and sportsmanship of both teams.
